25 years of open marxism: reflections on criticial theory and revolutionary praxis

In 1992 a book titled as Open Marxism was published in the United Kingdom coordinated by Werner Bonefeld, Richard Gunn and Kosmas Psychopedis. One of the central objectives of the essays gathered in the book was to show a more radical, deep and critical theoretical perspective than the interpretations of Marx's thought of structuralism, the school of regulation, and analytical Marxism. The coordinators of the book referred to the Open as an opening of the categories based on the centrality of the class struggle.

It has been 25 years since the publication of the book and these theoretical reflections established the foundations for a theoretical and practical perspective on contemporary Marxism that developed in Europe and Latin America, this perspective is called Open Marxism. On the occasion of the 25 years of Open Marxism’s reflections on the Critical Theory and the struggles for emancipation, the seminar of Subjectivity and Critical Theory of the Department of Postgraduate Studies on Sociology of the Instituto de Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades “Alfonso Vélez Pliego” (ICSyH) of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (B.U.A.P) has organized a colloquium to discuss and reflect on their contributions, limits and perspectives.
