The Revolution Revisited

The 1917 Revolution sent a signal around the world, and the world is still resonating in its wake. On the occasion of its 100th anniversary, Telekommunisten is preparing a monumental commemorative journey.

Re-performing Lenin’s train journey from Zürich to St. Petersburg, Telekommunisten and guests will travel by train starting at Zürich Central Station on April 9th and arriving at St.Petersburg’s Finland Station on April 16th. At each stop there will be special public meetings, with day-long symposia in Berlin and in St. Petersburg. Our intention is to retrieve and recontextualize the aspirations of the revolution still resonating in our cultures and politics today, and extrapolate the lessons and prospects for socialist, internationalist anti-imperialist politics in today’s world. We want to reexamine the techno-utopianism of Marx, Lenin and those they inspired, taking due account of the successes and their failures as we rework speculative social science fictions and materialist political agendas for the 21st century.
