Die Ausstellung im Deutschen Historischen Museum thematisiert die komplexen revolutionären Ereignisse in Russland und deren vielschichtigen Folgen für Europa und geht der Frage nach, welche Reaktionen und Gegenreaktionen der politische und gesellschaftliche Umsturz in ausgewählten europäischen und auch außereuropäischen Staaten hervorgerufen hat. Anhand von Beispielen will die Ausstellung zudem den Blick für die Gegenwartsbezüge der Ereignisse von vor 100 Jahren öffnen und damit einen Beitrag zu Einordnung und Verständnis aktueller Konflikte leisten. Ein Kooperationsprojekt des Deutschen Historischen Museums und des Schweizerischen Nationalmuseums / Landesmuseum Zürich.

In diesem Jahr jährt sich die Oktoberrevolution von 1917 zum hundertsten mal. Wir wollen dies zum Anlass nehmen, um uns im Radio mit der Geschichte der russischen Revolution auseinanderzusetzen. Dabei wollen wir nicht nur die Ereignisse des roten Oktobers rekonstruieren, sondern wir sehen diese Geschichtsarbeit auch als Teil einer politischen Auseinandersetzung.
As a counterpoint to the retreat of the concept of communism from history to 'idea', this conference will mark the 150th anniversary of the first volume of Karl Marx's Capital: A Critique of Political Economy by asking the question of the meanings of 'capital' and 'capitalism' today as at once (explanatory structural-historical) concepts and (political) ideas.

The Russian Revolution was a watershed event in global history. The transformations it occasioned lastingly shaped the world order. Its reverberations were felt well beyond the borders of the Tsarist Empire.
Many of its protagonists conceived it as the first act of the world revolution – an impression that was shared by many abroad, both friends and foes. The revolution inaugurated a period of pan-European agitations unseen since 1848.

In the 100th anniversary year of the Russian Revolutions, our conference focuses on the theme of revolutions, including their widespread and widely varying causes, contexts, conditions and consequences.
The conference will occur on different anniversaries that open up the opportunity for academic discussions about the notion, project and practices of communism. It is well known that anticommunism, both as discourse and as politics, presents itself as a strong hegemonic force from the very beginning of the very idea of communism.

For the last 50 years Karl Marx has been a central figure for the humanities—we have used his work to explain history, to analyze art, to philosophize, and to interpret literature. According to one study Marx is the single most frequently cited scholar in the humanities.
Le réseau international Penser l'émancipation prévoit une nouvelle édition en automne 2017 à l’Université Paris 8. Die Ausstellung im Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien basiert auf einer Ausstellungsreihe, die im MoBY, dem kommunalen Museum der Stadt Bat Yam, in der Nähe von Tel Aviv, aus Anlass des „99-zigsten Jahrtags der sowjetischen Revolution“ gezeigt wurde. Sie wird auf Initiative der Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung in Tel Aviv in Berlin gezeigt und bildet den Abschluss einer Ausstellungsserie zum Gedenken an den 100. Jahrestag der Oktoberrevolution von 1917.
